Ok, then we jumped on a sleeper train to Goa, which is basically the beach of India. We lived in a beach hut there for 10 days! It's kinda like a Little jungle town filled with many street food vendors, bohemian clothing stands and cafes! We basically slept in a lot (thus the phrase 'carpe PM' was born). We ate breakfast lunch and dinner in beachside restaurants, rented scooters...hold on...iron man 2 has just come on (I'm on an overnight bus to Bangkok)...it's a knock off DVD but looks watchable.
Ok, so that DVD kinda escalated into another 2 movies on the bus, which led to sleep and then then game time when we emerge from a bus into a foray of taxi drivers and hotel owners trying to negotiate! We once saw an old lady brandish a machete in order to get through the crowd of sellers awaiting her at the door of the bus.
Regardless, turns out I got robbed on that bus to Bangkok, all money recuperated (Shout outs to Visa card and Ulsterbank...love you guys!). So we were in bkk for a day, then got another bus to the Cambodian border, got to siem reap for new years night, went to a massive party in the street, slept for an hour and went to watch sunrise at Ankor Wat temples, which was somewhat less amazing than we'd hoped because it was overcast! Then we went to capital Phnom Penh and stayed in a sweet hotel and checked out some Genocide history, something to do with communism and a dictator....pretty harrowing stuff!
Then night bus to Vietnam, arrive in Saigon, which has 5m scooters and very bad street wiring. There I got me some diorea, got locked in a hotel, paid someone off to avoid getting arrested, went to a sweet waterpark, crawled in some tunnels built by the Vietnamese during the Vietnam war!
Then bus to nha trang, a little costal town, where the weather started to get kinda awful, but we did our diving course there, which included homework and an exam, we also had a fully functioning bathtub in our room, which we made much use of!
Then a night bus to Hoi An, which is my current location, where Ben is getting a suit made, and we also have rented bicycles and got lost around some paddy fields, then went swimming in the rather cold sea here....it is pretty wet and miserable, but nothing a poncho cannot handle!
Till next time!
